SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) today announced the launch of a new podcast by Assembly Democrats titled “Look West: How California is Leading the Nation.”

“Constant changes in the media landscape mean we as elected officials must adapt to how we reach the people we represent,” Rendon said. “With nearly 50 million Americans listening to podcasts weekly, it only makes sense for us to go to where our constituents are.”

SACRAMENTO — Following a year of devastating floods, fires, mudslides and other extreme weather, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr today joined Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, Republican Leaders Senator Patricia Bates, Assemblymember Brian Dahle and Senate President pro Tempore-designee Toni Atkins in partnering on solutions this year that will make California more resilient against the impacts of natural disasters and climate change.

SACRAMENTO — The California State Assembly delegation to El Salvador today met with President Salvador Sánchez Cerén and several other top government officials.

“Our conversation with President Sánchez Cerén centered on many of the concerns shared by California and El Salvador, notably the uncertain future of Salvadoran immigrants residing in our state,” said Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood). “We are grateful to the President for his partnership on this and other policy areas on which we can work together.”

SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) and Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo (D-Los Angeles) will lead a delegation of Assemblymembers to El Salvador to maintain stable and productive ties with the Central American nation. The delegation will go from February 14-17, 2018.

SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) today announced the appointment of Ramon Rubalcava to the California Public Employees Retirement System Board of Administration.

“Ramon Rubalcava has the experience and commitment to ensure that CalPERS protects the retirement security workers have earned,” Rendon said. “I know he will be an effective leader on the Board.”

SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood), a member of the University of California Board of Regents, issued the following statement on the Board’s scheduled vote to raise student fees by 2.7 percent:

“I oppose the fee increase proposed by UC President Janet Napolitano. The budget item presented to the Regents does not make a compelling case that this increase is necessary, and UC's argument that higher fees are actually good for most students is inconsistent with what I’ve heard from students.
