Speaker Rivas Announces Schedule for Special Session to Stabilize Gas-Price Spikes

SACRAMENTO, CA - Today, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas) announced the Petroleum and Gasoline Supply Committee and Assembly’s special-session schedules:

Committee Hearings

Wednesday, September 18, afternoon: informational hearing
Thursday, September 19, morning: informational hearing
Thursday, September 26, morning: bill hearing

Floor Session

Tuesday, October 1, floor session at 1 p.m.

Last week, Speaker Rivas announced the bipartisan group of 19 Assemblymembers who will serve on the Petroleum and Gasoline Supply Committee, which will be chaired by Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine). 

The Assembly also announced the introduction of Assembly Bill x2-1, co-authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) and Assemblymember Gregg Hart (D-Santa Barbara), which would increase crude oil and fuel capacity, with the ultimate goal of lessening the spikes in gas prices Californians pay at the pump. Principal co-authors of AB x2-1 include Assembly members Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay), Steve Bennett (D-Oxnard), Isaac Bryan (D-Los Angeles), Corey Jackson (D-Riverside), Ash Kalra (D-San Jose), Alex Lee (D-San Jose), and Jim Wood (D-Healdsburg).
