Speaker Rivas Champions Historic Effort to Increase Health Care Worker Minimum Wage

"Health care workers take care of us in our most difficult moments. This historic investment ensures they are fairly compensated and recognizes their enormous value, while also helping address hospital staffing shortages statewide. It also sets the highest state minimum wage for health care workers in the country, at $25 an hour. It took a lot of work to come together and stay at the table to achieve this major win, and I thank all involved for their commitment to getting it done. By investing in essential workers, we improve the quality of care and bring stability to our health care system. On a personal note, I wish I could share this day with my grandfather, who spent his life advocating for workers. He would be proud to see this historic agreement come to pass."
