Robert Rivas Elected To Succeed Anthony Rendon as the Next Speaker of the California State Assembly Effective June 30, 2023
SACRAMENTO, CA— Today, the California State Assembly voted to take official action to elect Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) as the 71st Speaker of the legislative body. Under House Resolution 1, Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) will continue to serve as Speaker until June 30, 2023, at which point, Speaker Designate Rivas will be sworn in as Speaker.
