Prop 1

As part of Proposition 1, the Department of Water Resources is required to spend no less than 10% of Prop.1 Chapter 7 funds to ensure that Disadvantaged and Economically Distressed Communities are involved in the Integrated Regional Water Management Plan. $51 Million have been allocated statewide of which $9.8 Million has been set aside for the Los Angeles Region.

ANTHONY RENDON SPEAKER OF THE ASSEMBLY in partnership with the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy & Urban Semillas Invite you to attend a This forum seeks to engage Non- Governmental and Community-Based Organizations, representatives from disadvantaged and economically distressed cities, and interested stakeholders in the LA region about the Disadvantaged Communities Involvement Program. Participants will be informed and have an opportunity to provide input to ensure disadvantaged communities are beneficiary of the funding allocated through this process and have a deeper understanding on how they can influence and participate in this undertaking.

Come join Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, Supervisor Hilda Solis, and the River and Mountains Conservancy for a bike ride and run along the LA River on Saturday August 20.

The Bike Ride & Run will start at:

This Thursday, June 9, the Assembly Environmental Safety & Toxic Materials Committee will hold a hearing on lead testing and clean-up in our communities near Exide.

As you may know, the Legislature and Governor recently approved $176.6 million to speed up testing and clean-up efforts in areas surrounding the former Exide battery plant.

This is your opportunity to share your comments and experiences with state officials so we can ensure funds are going to help those in need.

You’re invited to burn off some calories at the second annual Hawaiian Gardens 3k Fun Run/Walk.

Race Registration Information

After the 3k (1.8 mile) run/walk, stick around for a health fair where you’ll find resources about health care, nutrition and how to stay fit this holiday season.

The health fair will include dental screenings, information on diabetic food care, and bone density and vaccine screenings.  Representatives from Covered California will be on hand to answer questions about purchasing health insurance under California’s health benefit exchange.

You're invited to an informational hearing by the Assembly Select Committee on Expanding Access to California's Natural Resources.

 

Our state's beaches and coastlines are becoming increasingly less accessible for California's low-income communities. I invite you to come speak with me and other state representatives about solutions to expand coastal access.

A recent video released by Parks Now highlights the many challenges inland communities, particularly young people of color, face when trying to get to the coast.
