AB 1623 - Golden State Teacher Grant Program

California school districts are experiencing a serious shortage of qualified K–12 teachers.  This increased demand comes at a time when the supply of new teachers hovers at a 12-year low.

Assembly Bill 1623 creates the “Golden State Teacher Grant Program,” providing $20,000 in scholarship grants for students in exchange for their commitment to teach for four years in a shortage area – which includes Special Education, Bilingual and STEM certifications.
