Assemblymember Rivas Introduces Legislation to Speed Construction of Anderson Dam Project Bill Would Streamline Permitting Process and Court Review for Critical Earthquake Retrofit

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) has introduced Assembly Bill 3005, the Expedited Dam Safety for Silicon Valley Act, a bill that will expedite the reconstruction of Anderson Dam, located in Morgan Hill. This important legislation will facilitate the speedy and expert construction of the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project, protecting lives and property from dam failure, reducing flood risk for downstream communities, and restoring capacity of clean, safe drinking water for the region.

Governor Signs Asm. Rivas’ Bill to Protect Health and the Environment

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Governor Newsom has signed AB 936, legislation to protect public health and the environment authored by Assemblymember Robert Rivas (D-Hollister). “I thank the Governor for signing this critical bill to protect the people of California,” said Rivas. “AB 936 takes bold steps to ensure first responders are properly equipped and have the information they need to deal with the unique challenges posed by a spill of nonfloating oil. Our communities are counting on us and this shows a serious commitment to ensure their health and safety.”
