SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) has announced his appointment of Michael Flad of Burbank to the California Strategic Growth Council.
“The areas addressed by the Strategic Growth Council – housing, sustainability, prosperity, and environmental quality – are among the most important issues shaping California’s future,” Rendon said. “Michael Flad’s hands-on experience working to help cities grow and thrive will help him fulfill the Council’s important mission.”
Flad is the City Manager of South Gate. He has previously served as City Manager of Burbank and Assistant City Manager of Ukiah.
The 10-member Strategic Growth Council brings together cabinet agencies and state departments and the Governor's Office of Planning and Research to coordinate support for sustainable communities, strong economies, social equity, and environmental stewardship.
Flad, 50, is a Republican and fills a seat on the council reserved for a member of the public with a background in land use planning, local government, resource protection and management or community development or revitalization. He serves a pleasure term, and no compensation is stated for the position.
